"The cabin's a little claustrophobic and I have no idea where the bonnet
ends so occasionally you might 'rub' somebody," Wayne laughs. The road-going Supra may be a 2+2 coupe but there's no room for passengers in the racecar as the left side of the cabin houses the computer engine management systems and 'Pi' data logger which monitors everything from engine performance to chassis dynamics for later analysis.
With an infinite combination of shock absorber, spring rate, sway bar, ride height and wing angles for engineers to play with, finding a handling balance which suits both drivers and will be kind to the fat Michelin tyres is not easy.
"I like a car that turns in well, and I prefer a car that oversteers a bit,"
Wayne says. "We can adjust the sway bars in the cockpit, but the car is very sensitive to any suspension or weight change."
